Le prince Albert II s’est rendu à New York pour poursuivre l’engagement de sa mère, la Princesse Grace, en faveur des arts de la scène et des artistes. Comme chaque année, le prince Albert II a présidé la cérémonie de remise des Princess Grace Awards, des bourses de soutien aux jeunes talents, en présence de sa fille aînée, Jazmin Grace Grimaldi. Cette année, le prince souverain et sa fille se tenaient aux côtés de Michael Douglas, qui a été récompensé d’un prix d’honneur.

Prince Albert II of Monaco and Jazmin Grace Grimaldi reunited in New York in memory of Princess Grace

On October 23, 2024, the Princess Grace Foundation-USA (PGFUSA) presented its annual awards during a gala evening held at the magnificent Pierre Hotel on Manhattan's Upper East Side. The awards are grants awarded to young American talents in the categories of film, theater, and dance. The scholarships are intended to perpetuate the work of supporting artists, as Princess Grace did. In 1982, a few weeks after his wife's death, Prince Rainier III created a foundation in the princess's name, with the aim of continuing the former actress's dedication to the world of the arts.

Michael Douglas honored at the 40th edition of the Princess Grace Awards

This annual ceremony celebrated its 40th edition this Wednesday. Prince Albert II of Monaco did not miss this major annual event. This evening is always an opportunity to meet his eldest daughter, Jazmin Grace Grimaldi . In 2022, it was Princess Charlene who exceptionally accompanied her husband. This edition marked the 40th anniversary of the death of Princess Grace.

For the 40th edition of the ceremony, the Princess Grace Statue Award was reintroduced. This trophy, which was no longer distributed, comes with a financial reward of $25,000. The lucky recipients of this statue are Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and Lila Neugebauer, a screenwriter and a theater director. The other prizes, divided into different categories, are worth $10,000. This year, 18 individuals received an award and 11 honorary awards were also presented.

During the evening, Prince Albert II also presented the Prince Rainier III Prize, an award established in 2005. This is an honorary prize awarded to a personality for their entire career. This year, it was the Oscar-winning American actor Michael Douglas who received this trophy from the hands of Prince Albert II. Michael Douglas, who was accompanied by his sons Cameron and Dylan, was rewarded for his artistic career as well as for his charitable commitment. In 2019, Michael Douglas had already been honored in Monaco, when he received a Crystal Nymph from the hands of the princely couple, as part of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival.

Jazmin Grace Grimaldi is making her return to the red carpet, alongside her father. Relatively discreet for a few years, Jazmin continues to evolve in the American artistic world with her musician partner, Ian Mellencamp. The half-sister of Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella studied performing arts.
