Princess Charlene of Monaco met the young winner of a creative competition launched by her foundation. The aim of the competition was to design the jersey that the Impis U16, the rugby team formed by Princess Charlene, will wear during their next tournament in Dubai.

A middle school student designs the next Impis U16 jersey


This Monday, October 14, Princess Charlene of Monaco visited the Collège Charles III. The wife of the Monegasque Head of State wanted to attend the selection of the new rugby jersey for the young Impis U16 players. Princess Charlene, the daughter of a rugby player, supports this sport whose values ​​she shares.

Princess Charlene participated in the selection of the winner of a creative competition that mobilized 80 students from this college. The aim of the competition was to create and design in three weeks the new jersey of the Impis U16. This team, founded by Princess Charlene, welcomes promising young athletes from the Rugby Exchange program. The Rugby Exchange program is a collaboration between the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and the Monegasque Rugby Federation, which aims to train the next generation of rugby champions in Monaco.

This Impis U17 team will participate in the upcoming rugby sevens tournament in Dubai. The players will wear the jersey created by Alfonso Esteves Marques, a 4th grade student at the college, who was named the grand prize winner of the competition. The winner will of course win their own jersey and will have the pride of seeing the rugby players wear it in Dubai.

During the prestigious rugby 7s tournament in Dubai, these young talents will have the opportunity to proudly defend the colours of the Principality alongside their elders, thus strengthening the link between sport and youth.

Gareth Wittstock, Princess Charlene's brother, was present at the event. Gareth Wittstock, himself a former rugby player, is now the Secretary General of the Princess Charlene Foundation and the Honorary President of the Monaco Rugby Federation. Jean-Philippe Vinci, Director of National Education of Monaco, attended this event.
