Princess Lalla Hasnaa of Morocco and Sheikha Al-Mayassa of Qatar visited the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha (MIA) together on November 1, 2024. The MIA currently houses the Moroccan pavilion "Dar Al Maghreb". This is an immersive space that immerses visitors in the heart of Moroccan history and Moroccan culture. The two princesses already met a week ago.

Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani was in Rabat last week to attend Fashion Trust Arabia, a major ceremony that rewards emerging designers from the Arab world. She was already accompanied by Princess Lalla Hasnaa to attend this event. This Friday, it was the sister of King Mohammed VI who traveled to Doha to meet the sister of Emir Tamim. The presence of the Qatari Sheikha at Fashion Trust Arabia and the presence of the Moroccan princess in Doha are part of the Qatar-Morocco cultural year 2024.

The Moroccan pavilion "Dar Al Maghreb" is inspired by the architecture of the fortification of Aït-Ben-Haddou in the province of Ouarzazate. This fortress (ksar) has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1987. This site embodies the very essence of traditional earth construction techniques. The Museum of Islamic Art in Doha is a famous building inaugurated in 2008. It was designed by the famous Chinese architect I.M. Pei, on an artificial island in the capital.

The exhibition is divided into four spaces that highlight the importance of the Kingdom of Morocco. The Cherifian kingdom is considered the crossroads of civilizations "where dialogue and exchanges between the north and the south, the east and the west are celebrated," explain the museum's managers. The two princesses then visited the exhibitions "Splendors of the Atlas, a journey through the heritage of Morocco" and "Ektashif: Morocco".
