King Charles III
welcomes
King Abdullah II
to Windsor Castle
The Hashemite royal family and the British royal family have excellent relations. The reunion of King Abdullah II and King Charles III this Thursday at Windsor Castle confirms this. King Charles III took the opportunity to congratulate King Abdullah II on his 25th anniversary of reign.

The Hashemite King and the British Sovereign meet in Windsor
King Abdullah II of Jordan spent Thursday, November 7, in London. The Hashemite King visited the British Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, at 10 Downing Street to discuss the situation in the Middle East. “The King stressed the central role of the United Kingdom in the fight to end regional conflicts and achieve a just and comprehensive peace, based on the two-state solution,” explains the Hashemite Royal Court.
After this political meeting in the British capital, King Abdullah could not return home without greeting King Charles III. The British sovereign therefore welcomed him to Windsor Castle at the end of the day. King Charles had reserved a military welcome in the inner courtyard of Windsor Castle. The meeting also allowed King Charles III to congratulate King Abdullah II on his silver jubilee. In 2024, the sovereign celebrates his 25 years of reign.

At the meeting that followed, “discussions focused on the historical ties between the two kingdoms and ways to consolidate them in all sectors.” After World War II, the British Mandate ended in the Middle East. After gaining independence, the Emirate of Transjordan became the Kingdom of Jordan in 1946. King Abdullah himself has a strong family connection to the United Kingdom through his mother, Princess Muna, a British woman born Antoinette Gardiner.
