The Grimaldi Forum Monaco presents

"Colors!”

an exhibition dedicated to the modern history of color through major 20th-century masterpieces from the Centre Pompidou collection.

Curated by Didier Ottinger, Deputy Director of the National Museum of Modern Art, the exhibition will showcase over a hundred works, including paintings by about thirty key artists, from Sonia Delaunay to Jean-Michel Basquiat, including Pablo Picasso, Amedeo Modigliani, Henri Matisse, Vassily Kandinsky, and many others.

A true sensory and visual journey will invite visitors to rethink their perception of color in modern art. At the heart of the exhibition, seven monochromatic spaces will be enriched with sound creations by composer Roque Rivas, developed with IRCAM, and olfactory atmospheres created by perfumer Alexis Dadier in collaboration with the Fragonard perfume house. These unique installations will allow visitors to experience color not only visually but also through other senses - hearing and smell.

Following the exhibition path, iconic design pieces by Ron Arad, Jean Prouvé, Ettore Sottsass, and Philippe Starck will be integrated into installations specially created by Marion Mailaender. These installations will link artworks and design objects, with the French architect and designer recreating interior atmospheres to offer a new perspective on art by immersing it in daily life.

The scenography for the exhibition is designed by William Chatelain, Head of Space Studies and Design at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco.
