Roula Bechara

ART AND NOSTALGIA

BORN IN BEIRUT - ART and NOSTALGIA
Emotional, graceful, surrounded by her nostalgic memories with scents, flavors, colours of the beautiful old times, she re - creates her own world with such flamboyant passion, love and desire that nobody can ever stop her.
Roula Bechara, Lebanese - French paintress, here she is to embody the heritage of her multicultural land, the magical territory of Khalil Gibran, enriched with mountains, sea, exotic flowers and trees and such a complex, interesting but tragical and complicated history : Lebanon.

I admire since long time the artwork created by Roula. Well known artist, travelling and exhibiting around de world from Paris to Italy, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and Beirut, Roula Bechara represents the WOMAN in her absolute beauty.

Her paintings recreates the feminine atmosphere, portraits of miraculous women mysterious, mystical , extraordinary bejeweled and decorated in bright colors, lights, shadows and poetical touch.

The Woman as symbol of Beauty, Power, Sweetness and Tenderness. The Woman as Empress. Roula Bechara 's paintings are poems speaking about a tumultuous past, and even more tumultuous present of her country, where despite all dark moments, the women are still gorgeously feminine, beautiful mothers, kind sisters, beloved daughters and resplendent wives.

Women as Pillar of the society searching for peace, freedom and joy. Women as spectacular and intellectual partner in a world of permanent changes, historical, political and social.

l Women as empowerment activists. Women as Women - the heart of the family and the center of all possible dreams.
I must recognize that I have a real weakness for the Lebanese culture, heritage, music, literature or fashion.

Nothing more interesting than this unknown, charming, unique esprit wich I'm calling it the «Lebanese Soul». I don't know why I am able to understand perfectly the feeling, the emotion of the Lebanese nostalgia, this sentiment born between the pages of Khalil Gibran or now in this huge and sparkly paintings of Roula Bechara.
Born in Beirut» , it isn’t just my title for this chapter. It is a metaphor, a small but mysterious window open to a fascinating garden blooming with million of scents and flavors :
Roula’s women portraits , are giving us the silence, the power, the magic of their eyes and souls.

Stronger than any noise and any war , peaceful and tender, the paintings are in fact a love letter written in colours by a beautiful woman artist and signed with a symbol of her marvelous femininity :
Born in Beirut.
