It was in the magnificent green setting of the gardens of the Villa Doria Pamphilj that Giorgia Meloni organized the welcoming ceremony for the Emir of Qatar on October 21. Emir Tamim is on a European tour and devoted his Monday to developing relations between Qatar and Italy.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, spent a day visiting Italy. Before meeting the President of the Chamber of Deputies and Italian President Sergio Matterella in the evening at the Quirinal Palace, the Qatari sovereign first had an appointment with the Prime Minister at the Villa Doria Pamphilj.
Giorgia Meloni, President of the Council of Ministers, welcomed Emir Tamim to this magnificent villa in the capital. The meeting between the Prime Minister and the Qatari sovereign was aimed at "strengthening and developing relations between the two countries and advancing them in various fields," explains the Diwan, the Qatari Royal Court.

The Italian Prime Minister welcomed the Emir of Qatar and his accompanying Qatari delegation. Sheikh Tamim thanked his host for the welcome and expressed “his aspiration to develop and strengthen strong relations between the two countries in various fields, for the benefit and interest of the two friendly countries.” During the meeting, the prospects for bilateral cooperation between the two countries were discussed, particularly in the fields of economy, investment, energy and defense. Giorgia Meloni and Sheikh Tamim also discussed the most important regional and international development issues, in particular the evolution of the situation in the Gaza Strip. Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, also a cousin of the Emir of Qatar, made up the Qatari delegation that included other sheikhs, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry. On the Italian side, there was Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Minister of Environment and Energy Security, as well as the Prime Minister’s military advisor. After the meeting, Giorgia Meloni hosted lunch for the Qatari sovereign.
